Client: AWP B.V.
Identifying the correct commodity code for the EU market prevented the goods being held by customs for examination = saving of 2 week delivery delay and £1050 in demurrage charges.
Profile: AWP specialise in supplying solutions to optimise your working environment. Areas of expertise include business equipment, screw technology, ergonomics, ESD and safety. AWP’s extensive, high quality product range combined with their technical and creative approach ensures healthy and productive employees shift after shift.
Problem: One of AWP’s best selling products are the adjustable ESD work tables. Due to unforeseen circumstances their regular supplier let them down and it was necessary to find another manufacturer from outside the EU. As AWP had no experience of importing from the rest of the world they needed support with commodity codes, incoterms, customs declarations and logistics including incoterms.
Solution: The International Trade Consultancy took over the project of importing the ESD work tables and managed everything from start to finish. The commodity codes proposed by the supplier were not suitable for imports to the EU so The International Trade Consultancy found the correct equivalent and was able to advise on the associated import duty. The commercial invoice and bill of lading also needed to be amended in accordance with EU customs regulations to ensure smooth import. An appropriate logistics partner was found and The ITC oversaw the customs paperwork and shipping process from collection from the factory to delivery to AWP’s warehouse.
I’ve met Lucinda for the first time years ago when she was the Export Director for one of our manufacturers. In the following years the cooperation with her was excellent, both on the fields of sales, export and manufacturing. Brexit caused a lot of problems for exporting to and importing from the UK. Not only has Lucinda helped us, AWP, to be Brexit-proof by preparing the paperwork and provide vial and necessary info, she also helped other of our manufacturers to be so. The entire AWP team is grateful for her fast and accurate help.
