Client: Valro Manufacturing Ltd
£4320 per annum saved by Valro using Inward Processing for tools returned for repair.
Valro Manufacturing Ltd specialise in designing and manufacturing innovative, performance enhancing products in the construction and workplace safety arenas. They have developed new ways to fasten waterproof materials and building components that have been adopted by architects, contractors, construction and industry all over the world.
Like many manufacturers, Valro have a complex supply chain that requires constant monitoring to remain customs compliant in a rapidly evolving landscape. The first issue to address was the commodity codes of the imported materials and also the exported final product. Once these had been classified correctly it transpired that some of the exported products may require export licenses in order to be sold legally to some export markets. Valro were also aware that in order for their customers to claim preferential rates of import duty, they may be asked to prove that their goods are UK origin as some of the inputs are sourced from China. Finally, Valro offer a repair service for the tools they sell as part of the Centrix electro-bonding system so The International Trade Consultancy recommended obtaining authorisation from HMRC for Inward Processing.
Working remotely over a period of 6 months, The International Trade Consultancy was able to classify the imported materials and exported products and advise on import duty and CBAM requirements where relevant. Investigations were carried out as to whether export licenses were required and written reports provided for Valro to give to customs authorities if necessary. The last project saw The International Trade Consultancy successfully apply for Inward Processing authorisation on Valro’s behalf including completion of the first Bill of Discharge.
“Thanks very much for your help Lucinda, I have much greater clarity about our importing and exporting and am now confident we’re customs compliant”.
